The Timms possum trap is a kill trap widely used in New Zealand for controlling brushtail possum populations, which are a major pest threatening native wildlife and ecosystems. It consists of a sturdy plastic box with a spring-loaded striking mechanism that delivers a quick, humane kill when a possum reaches inside for bait. The trap is typically baited with cinnamon paste, peanut butter, or apple, and can be mounted on a tree or placed on the ground. It is popular with both professional pest controllers and landowners due to its durability, ease of use, and effectiveness.
